Terry Lynn Chancellor, Artist
Terry Chancellor - Painter and Mixed-Media Artist
Terry grew up in a small rural community with farms, fields, and blue mountains to inspire her creativity. Her love for nature, rural upbringing, and her faith journey are often reflected in her work through pen and ink, oils, acrylics, and mixed-media. In recent years, painting en plein air has become a passion and in 2023, she traveled to Colorado for the Plein Air Convention and Expo to learn from some of the world's masters! In 2025, she participated in the Fresh from the Outer Banks Plein Air Event in Dare County, NC, selling one of her mixed-media works to a local legend, Duck Cottage Coffee and Books.
Her commissioned works have consisted of homeplace sketches, pet and family portraits, faith imagery, and landscapes. Terry's art has been used for fundraisers by Feed More, Easter Seals, and the Baptist Theological Seminary of Richmond, and three of her mixed-media pieces are now part of permanent corporate collections. Her work has been exhibited throughout the Richmond area in solo and group shows, in the Outer Banks of North Carolina, and various art festivals.

Terry holds a BFA in Interior Design from Virginia Commonwealth University. After many years in commercial interior design, and while raising three children, she returned to her passion for art. She was on the advisory board to establish the Center for Creative Arts at Shady Grove (2004) and began teaching classes and summer camps. She has served as Chair of the Board of Directors for the Center, created workshops for the hearing impaired, facilitated workshops on creativity and spiritual renewal, and currently serves as the Gallery Director in addition to teaching. Terry also worked as the Creative Arts Specialist at Cedarfield of Pinnacle Living for three years, managing their art studio, art programs, and two galleries, in addition to teaching classes. She left Cedarfield in 2020 to pursue working as an artist full-time and to share her love of art with all ages!
Past Exhibits, Presentations, and Festivals
“I believe everyone has the ability to create, we just need to find our personal niche. We were each born to be co-creators with the Divine, each given unique perspectives and abilities. Through exploration and being brave enough to push past mistakes and failures, we find the joy that lights our soul”
